Fifteen years ago, we embarked on a journey to transform the way we fed our dogs. Tired of the overwhelming number of pet foods stuffed with fillers, preservatives, and ingredients we couldn’t even pronounce, we decided to take matters into our own hands. Every meal or treat we gave to our beloved dogs seemed to come with hidden costs—sensitive stomachs, skin allergies, and a sense of frustration as we navigated a sea of low-quality products. We knew there had to be a better way to nourish our pets.

 We started feeding raw, going back to the basics of what nature intended for our dogs. Almost immediately, we saw a positive difference—more energy, healthier coats, happier pups and less trips to the vet. But when it came to treats, we still faced the same problem. Even so-called “healthy” options were packed with ingredients that didn’t sit right with us—or our dogs.

 As our family learned more about natural nutrition for pets, we started to look for healthier treat options.   One beautiful summer day we were out with our cousins, and we came across a small fishing company along the shores of Lake Erie that was starting to make dog treats from the belly and skins of Walleye that they caught wild for their commercial customers.  Walleye, it turns out, is not only an abundant resource but also a nutritional powerhouse. Rich in DHA, Omega-3, Omega-6, and Omega-9 fatty acids, this fish offered precisely the kind of clean, natural nutrition we had been searching for all along.

 A light bulb went off. What if we could create a line of treats made from this nutrient-rich fish, harvested sustainably from the very lake we loved? Treats that would offer real health benefits, without the fillers or preservatives that plagued other products. We wanted something we could feel proud of giving to our own dogs, and we wanted to share it with other pet parents facing the same frustrations.

From there, AQUA CHEWS was born. Our family mission became simple: offer clean, nutrient-packed treats that bring the best everything our beautiful lakes have to offer to your furry friend in the form of treats and or food.(From lake to leash) Our walleye-based treats are sustainably sourced, packed with essential nutrients, and—most importantly—gentle on even the most sensitive of stomachs. Today, AQUA CHEWS stands as a testament to what can happen when you combine passion, nature, and a deep love for our four-legged friends.
